Project:

Early Childhood Homeless Community Engagement

After working with shelters for the first year, CCSA obtained funding from Z Smith Reynolds to address the needs of young children experiencing homelessness at a community-wide level. Partners for Impact solicited interested communities and selected Durham, a centrally located urban community and a four-county, rural region in the western part of the state, working together to address homelessness: Transylvania, Polk, Rutherford, and Henderson. This two-year project focused on integration across homeless and early childhood service sectors through an extensive discovery and planning process. Ongoing efforts continued in both communities kickstarted by mini-grant funds to support the new strategies and improve community response. Partners for Impact consultants continued to work with the Durham cohort through a contract with Families Moving Forward to facilitate the first six months of implementation.
