PROJECT

Partners for Impact engaged with InterAct around the following three areas of organizational development:

  • Strengthening staff capacity, particularly in the areas of leadership, management and supervision skills, and crisis de-escalation
  • Utilizing a staff-driven process to move strategic planning into operational action plans that strengthen integration of programs across the organization
  • Developing a culture of performance management building from the strategic plan

We began with interviewing the leadership team and summarizing their identified strengths, concerns and desires for training. Then we customized leadership training, beginning with three sessions focused on values and culture setting and then moving into leadership training core competencies: communication, conflict resolution, and emotional intelligence. Throughout the process, leaders had access to one-on-one coaching and individualized action plans that led them through processes for engaging their teams in the same conversations and training elements that they were experiencing as a leadership team.

Following leadership development, each leader created an Operational Plan for their program area, identifying outcomes, activities and metrics. Partners for Impact consultants provided group training and individual coaching to support completion of each program area Operational Plan.

In the final phase of work, consultants supported conversations with team leaders and across the whole staff around the desired elements of supervision and full staff feedback on strengths and growth opportunities for their teams. Leaders revised job descriptions and built a GPS (Growth, Performance, Success) plan that incorporates standard supports, coaching and positive supervision along with personal and team level goal attainment strategies and accountability.
