As a consultant who proudly identifies as African American, Black History Month serves as both a moment of reflection and a call to action. It is a time to honor the legacy of those, both seen and unseen, who have fought for justice and equity while acknowledging the ongoing work required to dismantle systemic barriers. My journey as a consultant has been deeply shaped by these ideals. From leading racial justice discussions as a pastor to facilitating diversity training sessions in fitness spaces, I’ve witnessed firsthand how intentional dialogue and inclusive practices can inspire change. These experiences reaffirm that progress happens when we approach our work with intention and humility, creating space for voices that have historically been silenced.

My approach to consulting is rooted in collaboration that amplifies marginalized perspectives. I strive to assess program effectiveness through an equity lens while fostering authentic community participation. As a Black consultant at Partners for Impact, my lived experiences bring depth and authenticity to this work, while my white colleagues commit to leveraging their privilege responsibly, engaging in continuous learning, and actively participating in dismantling racism. Together, we strive to uphold these principles in every project we undertake, embodying a shared commitment to equity and justice.

The urgency of this work cannot be overstated. Whether facilitating conversations about Black dignity, leading multi-ethnic book studies, or serving on the launch team of a nonprofit amplifying the voices of homeless youth in East Africa, I have seen how deliberate action and collaboration can transform communities. Black History Month reminds us that the fight for equity is not confined to the past—it is a living, ongoing movement.
